A S+T+ARTS Online experience

Watch Online Exhibition

Sustainable Futures & New Pathways to Innovation is an online experience presented in the framework of the European Commission’s S+T+ARTS initiative highlighting the potential of artists as catalysts of innovation.

Artists have always been at the forefront of exploring new tools, techniques and methods in their work – they are driven by an inherent curiosity to test and push the boundaries of their artistic practice.

Today, artists are operating at the vanguard of exploring frontier technologies like artificial intelligence, biotechnology or quantum computing. They share an awareness that progress has accelerated to a degree that no longer allows time for reflection, and are expertly visualizing and formulating the questions we should be asking ourselves as these technologies are becoming interwoven with the fabric of our lives: how can we develop an empathic approach to innovation that is humane and ethical, and focuses on the needs of humans and the preservation of our living spaces?
The European Commission’s S+T+ARTS initiative recognizes a potential in these artistic perspectives to become active drivers for sustainable innovation and has built a framework for artists, scientists, and technologists to work on these challenges together with industry and technology partners.

Sustainable Futures & New Pathways to Innovation is an interactive online experience that explores three concrete challenges tackled by artists who have participated in S+T+ARTS across three thematic areas: Tangible Data, Sustainable Futures and Navigating the Digital Realm.
