This project looks at transhumanism as a quasi-religion. Although this idea might be considered extreme, some transhumanists believe firmly that technology can transfer human attributes to machines which can enhance human physical potential and even extend longevity.
Beyond Death uses immersive video to simulate what might happen when digitizing consciousness, inviting audiences to explore the notions of “human” and immortality.
Biography:
Chenyu Zhou (CN) is a Chinese designer and digital media artist based in London, UK. Currently, she is studying MA Interaction Design and Communication in London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. Her critical art and design practice explore futurist technology, religion, human relationship, and public privacy. Her practices include video art, performance art and interactive design. Her work has been exhibited at the Design Museum Home Futures 2019.
