Bunko Gakki is a musical instrument that is the same size as a Japanese paperback (A5 size). The user can easily carry it. It has a modular structure that fits into a bookshelf.

Biography:
This art unit was produced by Novmichi Tosa. Wearing blue working clothes, which is a typical uniform of the small businesses that supported Japan’s high economic growth, they develop and introduce various nonsense machines all over the world in forms of concerts and exhibitions. In 2003, they received the Semi Grand Prix Prize in the Interactive Art category at Ars Electronica. They also develop mass products such as a note-shaped electronic musical instrument, “Otamatone.”
Maywa Denki’s first retrospective exhibition in China was held at McaM in Shanghai and was a resounding success. The same year, they also held an exhibition after 20 years in Osaka, Japan. For the 25th anniversary last year, a solo exhibition was held in Oita, Nagasaki.
