Pre-Opening

Before the festival officially begins, locals are invited to an inaugural tour, a pre-opening, on Wednesday evening.

OS
ROOMTONE (KR)

OS (Operating System) is a VR-based creation containing images of near-future autonomous driving environments. The light and data generated as an audience move through virtual space can bring together the boundaries of the actual and the virtual.

REVISITED
Markus Oberndorfer (AT)

Markus Oberndorfer’s multimedia-project REVISITED started in 2015 with a desire to question the medial parameters of 360 degree video. The artist draws attention to the fundamental shifts that took place between 360 degree video and the two main media of our time — photography and film.

Formal Structures
Patrick Fabian Panetta (DE)

When watching Patrick Panetta’s films, their simplicity seems as banal as it is disturbing and hypnotic. Filmed off the computer screen, Panetta’s retro-constructivist photoshop files are organized in layers and animated by pressing the arrow buttons on the keyboard. A blue square moves up, a purple circle moves towards another purple circle, a red triangle approaches a black rectangle. Each film’s soundtrack represents what the artist was listening to on the radio when filming the moving shapes.

Voices from AI in Experimental Improvisation
Tomomi Adachi (JP), Andreas Dzialocha (DE), Marcello Lussana (IT)

Voices from AI in Experimental Improvisation is a project by Tomomi Adachi, Andreas Dzialocha and Marcello Lussana. They built an AI called “tomomibot” which learned Adachi’s voice and improvisation techniques using neural network algorithms. The performance raises questions about the logic and politics of computers in relation to human culture.
