Childhood obesity is a worldwide public health issue. It is reported that obese children are more likely to become obese adults and overweight young adults are more likely to stay obese during their life. To tackle this issue, we made use of gamified exercise and proposed the large projection game El-Astrocade. This game was originally implemented in the world’s largest virtual reality system at the University of Tsukuba. The game encourages players to be more active and move, while showing us how physical activity is enjoyable. El-Astrocade is a 4-player shooting game in which two people control a spaceship and shoot at space debris and opponents. The spaceship is controlled through body movement, and each player is in charge of the spaceship movement along either X or Y axis. Besides increasing the players’ physical activity, this game fosters teamwork and communication. Since the spaceship is controlled by two people, cooperation is essential for success.
