Family Tour: A voyage through the microcosm of moss

There’s more to moss than you think: With our marvellous moss wall in the Kids’ Research Laboratory we will go on a journey through the microcosm, where rotifers, ciliates, and roundworms are bustling.

Augmented Reality Sandbox - Playing sand in a different way

A sandbox as a research environment: digging holes and piling up heaps of sand is not only a lot of fun, it also offers a first taste of geoscientific work thanks to 3D visualizations. Topographical contour lines are formed by playing and digging around in the sand, creating elevation color maps or simulated water via 3D projections.

Animaker - A playground of Artificial Intelligence

What animal is it? With Lego bricks we build our own fantasy creatures and the Artificial Intelligence has to guess which animal it is and also breathes life into it in a virtual world! With the "Animaker" in the Kids' Research Laboratory, the boundaries between the virtual and physical world become blurred. There are no limits to creativity!

Deep Space Family: On the trail of the pharaohs

We will take a look inside the Pyramid of Khufu using the latest techniques in Deep Space. Like in a computer game we can move through the corridors and explore the different chambers. We might even discover Cheop's burial chamber!

Erwin, the little patient

Just like a doctor, you can open the doll Erwin, our little patient, by the stomach. Hidden inside are removable organs, just like in a real human being. This way we explore together what the inside of the human body looks like and learn more about body and health in a playful way.

Deep Space Family: To Infinity and Beyond

From Deep Space in the Ars Electronica Center, we'll embark on a journey into infinity and beyond, past satellites, the sun, the solar system and the Milky Way to galaxies near and far, and all within minutes.

Deep Space Family: Journey through Universe IV

"My Violent Evil Monster Just Scared Us Nuts". You know that mnemonic? It's an easy way to remember the eight planets of our solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Family Tour

In this Family Tour we show you that our brain is like a workshop for thinking. And it even works with electricity! In a playful way, we will see how thinking and learning works from the brain's point of view and try out a so-called brain-computer interface.

Family Tour

Every child knows what light is! But could you explain it if asked? And what is light for? We will answer these questions and show you by the example of "nonvisual-art" how artists use light as a medium in their works.

Family Tour

"You've got to have something in your head!" you hear over and over again. And we have - quite a lot, actually! It's about 1.2 kilograms, electrically charged, constantly gathering information and giving orders. What we are talking about here is the complex control centre behind the forehead, our brain.

Deep Space Family

Come along on a voyage of discovery through our media world of Deep Space 8K! We will show you the best that Deep Space has to offer - and for the first time in Serbian!

Final event "Mission X - Train Like an Astronaut"

For several years now, the big final event of Mission X Austria has been taking place at the Ars Electronica Center. In this Family Tour we present the students' artworks and show you how Augmented Reality can be used.

Deep Space Family: The Universe Within III

In the past, one could only look inside the human body by cutting it open. With modern technology today, this is no longer necessary! With the software "Cinematic Rendering" we can dive into the body and move interactively with a joystick

Family Tour
