Electrified Feedback Cello

All times are given in Central European Summer Time (CEST / UTC +2).

A cello is made to vibrate by means of magnetic pickups and a structure-borne sound transducer through feedback and digital manipulation. Magnetic pickups convert the vibrating strings into electronic signals. Using amplifiers and AD/DA converters, this signal is amplified, distorted and manipulated in digital and analog terrain. The sound now generated is induced again in the body of the cello. A controllable feedback triggered by the artists is created. This device brings the completely acoustically functioning cello into new aesthetic areas and new sound spheres are created.

This performance was part of Ars Electronica Festival 2020.
