The interactive artworks under the title „Cooperative Aesthetics“ were created by students of Timebased and Interactive Media Art at the Art University of Linz. Using the lasertracking system of the Ars Electronica Deep Space they enable visitors to have a collective, audiovisual, aesthetic experience.

The starting point for the work „Movie Puzzle“ by Katharina Gruber are clips of animations of the Czech 1960s filmmaker Jan Švankmajer. The film clips are shown in nine equal parts on the floor projection of Deep Space in random fragmentation. The parts can be moved by entering and moving in space. The aim is to build the nine ever-changing parts back together into a complete video. To achieve this, participants must collaborate to find the matching parts and let them snap into place.
