How can artists adapt and extend their practice within the radically different landscape of audience and venues post-COVID?

Our journey to visit Matthew Gardiner, key researcher at the Ars Electronica Futurelab in the field of Origami Robotics (Oribotics), takes on a personal tone within his main studio workshop. The basic problem of finding new ways to engage audiences occupies Gardiner’s line of thought while guiding us through the circumstance and development of his latest works.

Oribokit™ is a democratized art science robotic origami kit, created to engage audiences in their homes and to encourage a more widespread expansion of Oribotic research. Neben der Nibelungenbrucke takes on a more light-hearted tone to deal with the missing elements of an online festival, especially social bonding made around food and drink. Gardiner created a photorealistic AR Wurstlstand, Wurst, and Leberkas-Semmel to prompt memories of past festivals.
