Der Künstler Jonas Lund arbeitete mit dem belgischen Telekommunikationsunternehmen Televic im Rahmen von Gluons Art & D Labs zusammen. Er realisierte die Arbeit Significant Other, eine intelligente, vernetzte skulpturale Ausstellung, die an zwei Standorten in Belgien und Bulgarien installiert wurde. Von der Decke absteigend, sind zwei Kameras und Flachbildschirme programmiert, um den „emotionalen Zustand“ jeder Person zu lesen, die ihren Weg kreuzt. Die aus den Bildern extrahierten Daten werden mit den an der anderen Stelle gesammelten Daten verglichen. Die intelligenten Maschinen ziehen Rückschlüsse auf die gegensätzlichen Daten und kommunizieren die Ergebnisse über Pop-ups und Statistiken. Besucher werden mit eindrucksvollen textbasierten Informationen wie „Du bist 22% glücklicher“ konfrontiert. Zwischen den beiden Standorten entsteht ein Wettbewerb. Wie sind sie im Vergleich dazu? Wie verstehen die Besucher, was die Medien ihnen mitteilen?

Biografien:
Jonas Lund (b. 1984) is a Swedish conceptual artist who creates paintings, sculpture, photography, websites and performances that critically reflects on contemporary networked systems and power structures. Lund’s artistic practice involves creating systems and setting up parameters that oftentimes require engagement from the viewer. This results in game-like artworks where tasks are executed according to algorithms or a set of rules. Through his works, Lund investigates the latest issues generated by the increasing digitalisation of contemporary society like authorship, participation and authority. At the same time, he questions the mechanisms of the art world; he challenges the production process, authoritative power and art market practices.
