Literally out of the box – Analogue Game Design

White Castle Games Agency (AT)

There is no „game design studies“ for analogue games. Yet their quality in terms of skill and creativity constantly increase. Passing on their skills is mostly self-organized by active „game authors“. One major aspect of the design process is playtesting.

At three of the four „Literally…“ spots, you can test analogue game prototypes of local and international game authors and discuss possible improvements with the developers.

There are different types of games: A duel-like deckbuilder, which tries to offer a lot of variation; Escape the Room – adventures, playable only once; a satirical negotiation game dealing with climate change.

At the fourth station, you can add more and more rules to an existing game. Thereby many visitors will collectively create a festival version of the game.
