Effervescent-Material-based Interactive Life-like Sculpture
Emils is an ephemeral soft sculpture that consists of millions of viscous slime bubbles which collectively become an essential structure. These bubbles interact with one another: competing, fusing and rupturing as they grow, resulting in a dynamic and ever-evolving form. Inspired by the construction of multicellular organisms, Emils embodies the microscopic and macroscopic perspectives of life forms.

Yuan Shao Wu (TW)
Yuan-Shao Wu is a PhD student and a member of Chun-Cheng Hsu Lab at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He currently focuses on studying the sculptural forms of fluid materials. Anything that moves interests him.
Wei Chen Yen (TW)
Wei-Chen Yen is a PhD student and a member of Chun-Cheng Hsu Lab at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He isdevoted to creating Installations and Interactive artworks. He has mainly focused on designing the mechanism system of Emils for this exhibition.
Chiao Ni Hsu (TW)
Chiao-Ni Hsu is a master student and member of Chun-Cheng Hsu Lab at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. She is currently conducting material research related to slime.
Kuan Ju Wu (TW/US)
Kuan Ju Wu is a PhD member of xLab. Before joining University of Tokyo, he was an adjunct assistant professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
Yasuaki Kakehi (JP)
Yasuaki Kakehi is a media artist, HCI researcher and professor at The University of Tokyo. By combining digital technology and physical materials he has created installation works that show alternative ways of experiencing environments and objects.
Chun Cheng Hsu (TW)
Chun-Cheng Hsu Lab at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University is a multidisciplinary research group led by Professor Chun-Cheng Hsu and composed of designers/artists from the Institute of Applied Arts.
