Open Futurelab
Open Futurelab is a platform within the Ars Electronica Festival to showcase and discuss Ars Electronica Futurelab’s latest research findings and collaborative projects with research partners. During this year’s festival from September 9-13, Open Futurelab will not only host physical exhibitions and talks in Linz, but also various experimental projects online to deepen discussions on how to envision the future for the new conditions facing humanity.
Live Channels
From Auckland to Johannesburg to Los Angeles, from Bergen to Antarctica, universities, museums, galleries, clubs, communities and businesses in 120 locations around the globe host hundreds of exhibitions, conferences, performances, concerts and workshops aimed at local audiences. Mozilla Hubs
Ars Electronica Futurelab will be experimenting with social telepresence using Mozilla Hubs during the festival. Here, visitors will be able to share and discuss with other visitors the various experiments conducted by Ars Electronica Futurelab online.
The Ars Electronica Futurelab Virtual Show recreates a variety of the laboratory’s experiments and shows on Mozilla Hubs. The actual Ars Electronica Futurelab studios, Deep Space 8K and the surrounding environment of the laboratory are being converted to virtual experiment sites.
Door To Door is an installation that uses a door metaphor to connect real and virtual spaces. A physical door is installed in the actual laboratory and when the door is opened, it connects to Mozilla Hubs. There is also a door on Mozilla Hubs. Open that door and you will be connected to the real Ars Electronica Futurelab in Linz.
Experience Ars Electronica Futurelab at Mozilla Hubs using the Firefox browser during the Ars Electronica Festival from September 9 to September 13, 2020:
