As creators in an era of Technofeudalism, how can we challenge the status quo by introducing innovations in technological applications while maintaining cultural diversity? In Taiwan, the cultural content industry collaborates with technology companies, integrating soft power with hardware to foster creativity.     Chia-Shan Chang is a project manager of International Partnership in the Content & Culture Technology Department, Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA). Holding a master’s degree in Artistic and Cultural Project Management from IESA, Paris, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from National ChengChi University, she works on talent cultivation and exchanges, residencies, fostering co-production in immersive content and digital art between Taiwan and abroad.

    Chih-Yung Aaron Chiu is a full professor at National Tsing Hua University. He is also the Vice Dean in the College of Arts, Director of the Graduate Institute of Art and Technology, and Director of the Interdisciplinary Program of Technology and Art in the College of Arts. Professor Chiu serves as a council member for the Taiwan Art & Technology Association and the Cultural Studies Association of Taiwan, and is also a trustee for the Digital Art Foundation.

    Escher Tsai focuses on digital art research, promotion and creation. He is the Creative Director of Dimension Plus and Hello World, and Director of Arts and Technology: Creative Innovation and Counseling Project, and 5G Computing Art Project. He was Senior Consultant of the Preparatory Office of Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab, host of the Digital Art Exchange platform and “playaround workshop”, and creative director of Microplayground. 

  • He Lin Luo, Chun Cheng Hsu, Yi Bing Lin

    He Lin Luo, Chun Cheng Hsu and Yi Bing Lin are three professors from Taiwan who have combined their expertise in different fields to create cross-disciplinary technological projects. Together, they produced the work Heart of the Machine: Virtual Universe X Mechanical Puppet—A Dialogue Between Puppet Theater and Body Data, which integrates traditional puppet theater, technological performance, virtual reality and Internet of Things (IoT) computation.

    Ted Chang has more than 20 years of experience in leading global corporations and has been instrumental in driving corporate technology strategy and global research partnerships. In addition, Dr. Chang is responsible for overseeing the Quanta Research Institute (QRI) for advanced research and BU12, a business unit dedicated to integration of AI, IoT and cloud computing as a platform solution for smart transformation of healthcare, medicine and agriculture, among other sectors.

    Wen Ying Chang

    Wen Ying Chang is currently a doctoral candidate at the National Taipei University of the Arts. With several years of professional experience in policy research and strategy at the Taiwan National Science and Technology Council and the Taiwan Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute, she is now actively involved in the cultural content sector at TAICCA. Her main mission is to foster international innovation and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between culture and technology.
