How do Upper Austrian composer Anton Bruckner and American rock duo The White Stripes fit together? The NoFive project aims to explore this intriguing question. Notably, there is a striking similarity between a recurring theme from Bruckner’s 5th Symphony and the White Stripes‘ iconic Seven Nation Army riff.
Initiated by Andre Zogholy, the project brings together a diverse team of six female guitarists, three male guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and a conductor. Together, they delve into this riff and segments from Bruckner’s 5th Symphony, navigating the tension between high culture and pop culture, their respective avant-gardes, and their mutual transgressions.

NoFive strebt nach nichts Geringerem. Eine Fusion aus Bruckners Fünfter Sinfonie und dem ikonischen „Seven Nation Army“-Riff der White Stripes, geschüttelt und gemixt im Glenn-Branca-Stil. Eine mächtige Wand aus Gitarrenverstärkern verstärkt das Ensemble aus neun E-Gitarristen, einem Bassisten, einem Schlagzeuger und einem Dirigenten, so dass Bruckners Fünfte als avantgardistisches Klangbild zwischen Hoch- und Popkultur oszilliert und vibriert.
