Sound Campus ist ein Programm, das in Zusammenarbeit mit Ars Electronica und der Kunstuniversität Linz vom 3. bis 5. September 2024 präsentiert wird. Die diesjährige Ausgabe Sound Campus—Sonic Fever nimmt die Form einer Tragetasche voller Klänge und vielfältiger musikalischer Ausdrucksformen an. Mit Blick auf die Kraft des Klangs als Katalysator und Formwandler schlägt es eine polymorphe Bühne für Fiktionen, imaginäre Räume und anachronistische Möglichkeiten vor.

Durch die Förderung einer Kultur der Solidarität nehmen wir Klangwerke in den Mittelpunkt, die alternative gemeinschaftliche Umgebungen und gemeinsame auditive Erlebnisse erkunden. So können wir das Potenzial von Klang als Werkzeug nutzen, um dominante Narrative herauszufordern. Wir wollen Narrative schaffen, die auf Teilen, Fürsorge und Verantwortungsfähigkeit basieren.

    AndinA is a solo project of Patricia Cadavid H. that draws inspiration from the ancestral technologies of the Andes of Abya Yala to unravel the sounds of the future, vindicating them in the present. With her instruments, she knots noisy textures and builds with deep percussions, sound rituals inviting to contemplate and listen to the past in order to face the path ahead.

    Daphne Xanthopoulou is a sound artist, designer and curator based in Barcelona. Through participatory performances, podcasts and installations, she explores contemporary sonic practices and speculative methodologies as a strategy for earthly re-enchantment.

    Through field recordings, sculpture, objects, social scenarios and interventions in public and architectural space, Eduardo Triviño-Cely’s work experiments with the relationship between sound, bodies and the space we inhabit.

    Hedieh Khajehzadeh / I-ID is an interdisciplinary artist, DJ, and sound creator. With a BFA in painting from Tehran, I-ID is currently exploring the synergy of image and sound in the Master’s program on Time-Based Media at the University of Arts Linz. They are also an active member of the artist collective „qujOchÖ.“

    Lai explores feedback noise from audio mixers and environmental sounds, creating performances that blend audio and visual elements. His video works are rooted in folk religious rituals and AI art, merging mixed noises and oversampling test tones.

    Ya Nung, a suona musician, goes beyond traditional Chinese music, experimenting with pop, jazz, Latin, and noise art. She explores sound possibilities, integrating body movement and improvisation.

    Li-Chi Hsiao, who graduated from the Berlin University of Art, is a Taiwanese new media artist whose oeuvre encompasses an array of mediums such as audiovisual, installations and live performances. Her works focus on the personal connection with the internet and societal dynamics, reflecting a profound engagement with the symbiosis of technology and the individual. It invites audiences to contemplate the convergence of personal narratives within the digital landscape and the broader societal framework.

Beeinflusst von avantgardistischer und minimalistischer Ästhetik setzt sie sich kritisch mit gesellschaftlichen und politischen Diskursen auseinander. Ihr unkonventioneller Ansatz integriert Kunst, Technologie und zeitgenössische Politik, um immersive interaktive Erlebnisse zu erschaffen, die Wahrnehmungen auf den Prüfstand stellen und zum Nachdenken anregen.

    Vahid Qaderi ist interdisziplinärer Künstler und elektronischer Musiker mit den Schwerpunkten Musikproduktion, AR/VR und Visualisierung. Razieh Kooshki ist multidisziplinäre Künstlerin. Ihre Arbeit konzentriert sich auf generative Visuals, VR und Videokunst. Razieh und Vahid arbeiten seit 2016 als Artist Duo zusammen und haben ihre Projekte auf Festivals wie Deep Space 8K, Ars Electronica in Linz und dem Geneva International Film Festival in der Schweiz präsentiert.

This variation is not merely a change applied to a specific audio element but a fundamental compositional principle that avoids mechanical combinations and obvious rhythms. The result is a rich amalgamation of textures and harmonies that continuously evolve, taking the listener on an atmospheric journey through diverse sonic environments.

    OGDL is a duo comprising Ozan Tezvaran (TR) and Gundega Graudina (LV). They met during their Postdigital Lutherie Studies at the University of Arts Linz. OGDL merges noise, ambient and deconstructed club in experimental music performances, often held in unusual locations ranging from zoos to churches. Their concerts are a mixture of lullabies, screams, sad pop tunes with an oomph, tape loops, field recordings, feedback and layered string textures, to name a few.

    A community event in Linz that focuses on the method and art form of sampling. It offers producers a curated musical piece and two hours to create something new with it. The Stadtwerkstatt has provided a shared space for the gathering, Eliot (Backlab) acts as mastermind and Dorf TV turned it into a TV show. Driven by an idea of inclusion and openness towards all genres, aesthetics and levels of experience, everyone is welcome to produce music together.

    Sandra Muciño

    Sandra Muciño is a bassoonist, performer and sound artist. She is a graduate of Escuela Superior de Música in México, as well as Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität in Austria. She has played in various ensembles and orchestras, studying with Christian Wolff, Wade Mathews and Walter Thompson. Muciño is a member of Sonidero 13, Soundpainting Orchestra of Mexico and TRAMAS Collective. Her works have been featured in Mexico, Chile, San Diego Flute Guild and Krama Festival. Currently, she is a Master’s student in Postdigital Lutherie in Linz.

    Sule is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans creative coding, audiovisual generation, and photography. She studied Fine Arts at the National University of Colombia and is pursuing a Master’s in Interface Cultures at the University of Arts Linz. She is an active member of Toplab Bogotá, a live coding community, and Vestidas y Alborotadas, a collective focused on live coding and textiles. She also works with Super Tapestry, a collective exploring analog and digital fusion.
