STORIES OF AN INSTANT exemplifies a variety of perspectives created by the societal circumstances of COVID-19. To stimulate a change of perspective and awake empathy the project includes voice recordings of people affected by the crisis. By assigning different stories to meaningful objects, STORIES OF AN INSTANT creates separated areas, each defined by a strong symbolic language. Based on exploration of situated knowledges and the duality of objectivity-relativism, the project challenges one's view of their own truth – striving to showcase considerable perceptions of others.

Real Feelings – A Virtual Exhibition Tour with curator Sabine Himmelsbach

Co-curator Sabine Himmelsbach will digitally guide you through the international group show Real Feelings at HeK Basel, to present work by 20 artists in mediums ranging from artificial intelligence, interactive installations, robotics and biometrics, to gaming, video installations, virtual reality and photography. The shown works examine how technology can capture, evaluate or generate our emotions in a variety of ways. artUNBOXING

artUNBOXING is a series of video-performances produced for the Internet. It is published in episodes, in the form of a program that mimics the YouTube unboxing show. Instead of typical objects for this genre, I open purchased works of art, things signed by artists, or gadgets from exhibitions. The act of unpacking of those items - is the essence of my creative act. I try to verify the thin border between art and product.

Träumt die Erde? Können unsere Träume ineinandergreifen? In "The Wandering Mind" (dt.: Die wandernden Gedanken) treffen uns die allgegenwärtigen Sensorik-, Faser- und neuronalen Netzwerke, die unseren Planeten bedecken, im Schlaf, während sie ihr Quellenmaterial aus Field Recordings und Sensordaten von riesigen Onlinespeichern beziehen. Für das diesjährige Festival malen wir einen Traum mit Geräuschen von Wasser und Strömungen: Eine Nacherzählung des Mythos von Tiamat, der Meeresmutter, deren Leben eine tragische Wendung nimmt, als ihre rebellischen Kinder nach Macht streben. Die Geschichte spiegelt unsere moderne Beziehung zu den Ozeanen der Erde wider.

As part of Heartbeat of the Earth, a series of online interactive artworks interpreting climate data, data artist Laurie Frick’s work examines the impact of individual foods on the environment using hand-drawn data visualisations, color coded and sized by CO2 output.

Coastline Paradox

Timo Aho (FI) & Pekka Niittyvirta (FI)

As part of Heartbeat of the Earth a series of online interactive artworks interpreting climate data, using Google Maps and Street View, artists Pekka Niittyvirta and Timo Aho visualize the predicted sea level rise – and the number of people likely to be displaced – in more than 200 different locations between the years 2000 and 2300.

Cristina Tarquini (IT) created an interactive data visualisation, inviting you to dive into the ocean and explore the impact of rising temperatures & in turn rising CO2 levels on marine life, over time.

Ars Electronica Barcelona Garden Show

EXHIBITION: The show will present the most recent productions and acquisitions of .BEEP {collection;}: the historical works Das tangible Bild and The Endless Sandwich both by Peter Weibel and Vestibular_1 by Albert Barqué-Duran & Marc Marcenit. Three brand new works will also be exhibited, produced thanks to grants awarded to Mónica Rikić by New Home of Mind, Roc Parés by Doble Consciència and Santi Vilanova (Playmodes) by Forms. The three projects have been selected through a public call of the Institut Ramon Llull, NewArtFoundation and Hangar.
