World Wide Webb by the British artist Thomas Webb is a virtual world the digital visitor enters through the browser on a smartphone. It is a multiplayer video game, a digital exhibition space and a world full of art and characters the visitor is invited to interact with. Webb recreates the social spontaneity of the world pre-Covid-19. He built a virtual world for new media artists to share their thoughts on what technology is and could be. The visitor meets AI avatars designed by Webb, to reflect the human nature and to question the use of technology in the digital age. Net art is presented in its genuine medium, the digital realm, where video art is also easily accessible.

TRANSCENDENCE: presents an VR environment in form of a serene and magical forest, that strives to provide a safe mental space for people, who are burdened during times of uncertainty and constant change. A carefully curated selection of visuals and sounds encourage the user to leave everyday stress and anxiety caused by Covid-19 behind. The VR experience aims to support people, to clear their mind in order to better process the pressure of the global pandemic crisis. STORIES OF AN INSTANT exemplifies a variety of perspectives created by the societal circumstances of COVID-19. To stimulate a change of perspective and awake empathy the project includes voice recordings of people affected by the crisis. By assigning different stories to meaningful objects, STORIES OF AN INSTANT creates separated areas, each defined by a strong symbolic language. Based on exploration of situated knowledges and the duality of objectivity-relativism, the project challenges one's view of their own truth – striving to showcase considerable perceptions of others.

QUINTESSENCE DOME LAB is a 4 weeks artist residence organized by Espronceda, Institute of Art and Culture (IMMENSIVA) in collaboration with Mira Festival, UCA, MEET Digital Center Milan, Helsinki XR Centre and with the funding of Institut Ramon Llull. The participants will create an immersive project in different teams. In this ceremony the winner will be announced and the work showcased in a live connection.

We Come From Our Stories I and II

Platfontein is the residence of the !Xun and Khwe people, first-nation inhabits from Southern Africa. FSAH, under the direction of the former Programme Manager MC Roodt, initiated a youth print-project, in partnership with the William Humphreys Arts Gallery and the Isibindi Youth Centre. Fourteen young artists translated traditional narratives into linocut editions during April of 2017. The print portfolio was titled Ons Kom Vanaf Ons Stories (We Come From Our Stories). All proceeds from sales were funnelled back to the Platfontein artists to support their continued growth as voices from the next generation.

The Gaia Hypothesis Exhibition / Curated visit by artists and curator “Amazonia” is a collective exhibition curated by Alejandro Martín that goes from the sounds coming from space to the earth to Mesoamerican indigenous ceremony. Combining ritualistic dance with interactive screens and AR/VR experiences, Amazonia speaks to the current pandemic situation where the Ecosystem rules over humans, altering the dynamics of the Anthropocene era. The Amazon is burning by human actions and at the same time the power of Nature has the ability to re-initiate the “game” following the Gaia hypothesis.

KT Award of Technology Art, sponsored by MOST, is the most prestigious award for college students in digital arts in Taiwan. There are three competitions: interactive art, digital animation, and digital game. This year’s theme is "Bitter Spring and Fruity Fall (春苦秋實)," which describes all kinds of difficulties we faced, especially the COVID-19 epidemic this spring, but reminds us that we still harvest in autumn. The exhibition of winners’ artworks in the 15th will be held in NTHU.
