Hybrid Creations will present an interdisciplinary and intergenerational perspective that brings together pioneering work from the 1970s through the 1990s, produced by young artists from different regions of the country who have developed video pieces since 2020.

For the Digital Indaba 21, NewMusicSA commissioned three South African composers. These new works were premiered monthly in a concert series in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Panda Rhei is a new commission for violin and electronics composed by Dimitri Voudouris and performed by Waldo Alexander on violin and Voudouris himself on electronics at the Trevor Huddleston Memorial Centre (Johannesburg, ZA) on Sunday 7 March 2021. Pandemie, Klimawandel, Digitalisierung – es scheint als befinde sich die Welt auf einer Expedition ins Unbekannte. Soziales Denken und Handeln sowie eine humanitäre Grundeinstellung sind für die erfolgreiche Bewältigung dieser Herausforderungen unumgänglich. Bildung im Allgemeinen und Politische Bildung im Speziellen sind dabei unverzichtbare Voraussetzungen. Wie aber kann das gelingen, wenn die Mitglieder von Bildungsinstitutionen selbst Teil der Expedition sind und noch nicht wissen, wohin die Reise geht?

This LASER ZURICH event constitutes an immersive presentation by six researchers in four parts. They focus on how and why the production of our food will change in the future to incorporate the concepts of wild plants, cultivated plants and in-vitro plants.

This presentation by artists and curators Robert Pierce, Elise Butterfield, Taylor Shuck, and Maysam Al-Ani will feature documentation of the performance and AR works made as part of the Start a Reaction project, an anti-nukes art and technology campaign. Additionally, an overview of the project’s intentions, significance, and history of the threat of nuclear weapons.

Who can and should produce scientific knowledge, and where should it be produced? This performative debate explores whether science should be only in the hands of “experts.”

Microbes Performing in Zoom

There is not only a decline in linguistic and phonetic diversity but also in the diversity of the microbiomes. Both the monopolisation of languages and the spatial distancing in digital communication exacerbate this decline. Spiess&Strecker's performance counteracts the simultaneous decline of microbial and linguistic diversity by presenting a vision of language as an ecological process.
