Earlier this year, UNESCO published a landmark report calling on the international community to increase efforts to support artists creating in zones of conflict. Klara Kostal of the Austrian UNESCO Commission will provide an overview of the report’s findings and strategies for safeguarding creative freedom amid emergency global situations.

Klara Koštal is an expert on European and international cultural policies. She studied comparative literature, cultural management and political and communication sciences at the University of Vienna and King’s College London. She has held various positions in the culture sector and currently works as a policy officer for the UNESCO Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions at the Austrian Commission for UNESCO. She is an expert author at the Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends.
