More about the History of Ars Electronica...

Ars Electronica is also a public company, positioned alongside electricity, water, and public transportation in the city of Linz. We are now facing pandemics, climate change, the SDGs, and other issues that require action by the entire society, as well as the accompanying changes in social structures such as the digital transformation. The power of art to discover essential issues, create new values, and inspire people and dialogue is the social infrastructure that should be provided to everyone, just as the water department delivers safe water for all citizens. According to this belief, we aim to provide people opportunities for art and discussions as cultural and social infrastructure.
