Context specific AI generated topographies at the friction space between citizen data science, urban dynamics, artificial intelligence and neuroscience.

Emergent topographies is a video installation, created by using artificial intelligence in the form of generative adversarial networks for creative production. Given the complexity of intelligence, be it synthetic or biological, the artwork operates in the friction space between citizen data science, urban dynamics, artificial intelligence and neuroscience; exploring the interaction through generating mutant topographies of brain data and citizen urban data using creative algorithms.
Context and Culture are the themes at stake, due to the bidirectional relationship between them, where context is reflected by Urban data, and culture by the Biodata of citizens and brain – EEG data, AI becomes the force that acts to mutate both. The aesthetic of the artwork follows a connectome thought of as a enmeshed trail array of simulated agents wandering in the 3d space of stacked synthetic topographies.

Firas Safieddine (LB/ AT/ ES): Firas is a Barcelona-based designer, architect, artist, researcher, and neurotech enthusiast who currently operates as editorial board member at UrbanNext [ an online platform that disseminates content, with the ethos of expanding architecture to rethink cities and territories ], creative and tech director/Senior designer at Guallart Architects designing international urban scale projects, and chapter lead at NeurotechBCN, the Barcelona chapter of NeurotechX, an international community that fuels up the development of neurotechnology.

Eveline Wandl-Vogt (AT): Eveline is a thinker and maker, knowledge designer, creative experimentalist and innovator. Against a background of Art Driven Innovation, Humanity Centered Design and Open Innovation, she is facilitating Social Innovation for the purpose of good, contributing to invent inclusive, sustainable. responsible futures. Eveline is fondress and orchestra of exploration space (at) ÖAW and fondress and Director of Ars Electronica Research Institute “knowledge for humanity”. She is affiliated to metaLab (at) Harvard, and is ambassador for “knowledge for humanity” of the Republic of Uzupis.
