Following a traditional pōwhiri (welcoming), the opening event brief overview of the development of digital expression, research and exploration in Aotearoa and will introduce the works of the 20 selected projects for Ars Electronica AOTEAROA. Uwe Rieger (DE/NZ): is an Associate Professor for Design and Design Technology at the University of Auckland, where he has established the arc/sec Lab for Cyber-Physical Architecture and Interactive Systems. As a designer and researcher, Uwe’s work on Reactive Architecture aims to connect the intangible digital world with multi-sensory qualities of physical constructions and spaces. www.arc-sec.com

Professor Marc Aurel Schnabel: is the Dean of the Wellington Faculty of Architecture & Design Innovation, Victoria University of Wellington. Trained as an Architect, he is leading research in architectural and design technologies. He has worked in Germany, Australia, and Hong Kong for thirty years and is recognised for his research in computational design, digital heritage, and intelligent cities.

Tane Moleta (NZ): holds the lectureship for Interdisciplinary Digital Design in the Wellington School of Architecture. His research spans Computer Aided Architectural Design, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality. He currently co-directs the Digital Architecture Research Alliance. www.dara.digital/humans

Yinan Liu (NZ): is a digital artist and programmer with an architectural background from the University of Auckland. She has developed a number of installations as part of the arc/sec Lab. Yinan is the founding partner of arc/sec Solutions ltd., which develops customized applications for cross-reality environments and interactive systems.
