The world is in a phase of upheaval, virtually on an expedition to the NEW LAND. Science-based approaches and rational action are being disrupted by populism, conspiracy theories and religious battles. Social thinking and action as well as a basic humanitarian attitude are indispensable in such a situation. Education is an indispensable prerequisite.

The education sector must actively participate in this current social transformation process. But how can this succeed if the members of educational institutions are themselves part of the expedition and do not know where the journey is going? Are we really moving towards a “new normal”? If so, what does this “new normal” look like?

Christiane Spiel (AT): Christiane Spiel is professor for Educational Psychology and Evaluation at the University of Vienna.

Michael J. Merl (AT): Michael J. Merl is Director of the Clinics for Childhood and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychosomatics, Kepler University Hospital Linz.

Karin Mach & Alina Steidl (AT): Karin Mach and Alina Steidl work at the Di@log Workshop Center of the Chamber of Labor Upper Austria. Together with young people (grade 7 – 13), they deal with the topics of work, career orientation, consumer protection, media education and political education.

Nikolai Weber (AT): Nikolai Weber is a staff member of Zentrum polis – Politik Lernen in der Schule since 2021.

Jakob Feyerer (AT): Jakob Feyerer is active in both research and teaching on the subjects of Civic Education and Social Sciences at the College of Teacher Education Upper Austria.

Reinhard Leonhardsberger (AT): Reinhard Leonhardsberger is project coordinator and trainer with the association SOS Menschenrechte.

Manuel Kaufmann (AT): Manuel Kaufmann, Chamber of Labor Upper Austia, department of Economic, Social and Societal Policy.

Christian Engelbrecht (AT): Christian Engelbrecht works at Futurium Berlin.

Dr. Paul Reinbacher (AT): Dr. Paul Reinbacher is professor of Education and Quality Management and Head of Quality Management at the College of Teacher Education Upper Austria.

Andreas Girzikowsky (AT): Andreas Girzikowsky is Head of School Psychology at the Upper Austrian Directorate of Education.

FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. Tanja Jadin (AT): FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. Tanja Jadin Studies and subsequent doctorate in psychology at the University of Salzburg. Since 2011 professor for E-Learning and New Media and since 2013 pedagogical coordinator of the master program Communication, Knowledge, Media at FH OÖ, Campus Hagenberg. Research interests: self-regulated learning with digital media, media literacy, aspects of learning psychology and cognitive psychology of multimedia learning, teaching and learning with digital media.

Jeremie Dikebo (AT): Jeremie Dikebo is the regional spokesperson for vocational schools in Upper Austria and apprentice at a leading telecommunications provider.
