New Pathways: AI, Art, and Collaboration in Citizen Science—#Education

Citizen science and education can form a powerful partnership, bringing real scientific discovery into the hands of learners while building essential skills for the future. By involving students in hands-on, real-world research, citizen science breaks down classroom walls, making science more engaging, relevant, and inspiring. It not only deepens understanding of scientific methods but also boosts critical thinking, problem-solving, and a sense of agency as students become contributors to actual scientific knowledge. More than that, these projects promote active citizenship—empowering students to connect science with real-world issues in their communities and advocate for positive change.

This session will explore both the exciting opportunities and the real-world challenges of integrating citizen science into education, including time and resource limitations, balancing scientific and educational goals, and navigating curricular and institutional pressures.
