QUINTESSENCE PRIZE

Quintessence Dome Lab Award Ceremony Award ceremony/ curated visit to the winner installation/ panel discussion. QUINTESSENCE DOME LAB is a 4 weeks artist residence organized by Espronceda, Institute of Art and Culture (IMMENSIVA) in collaboration with Mira Festival, UCA, MEET Digital Center Milan, Helsinki XR Centre and with the funding of Institut Ramon Llull. The participants will create an immersive project in different teams. In this ceremony the winner will be announced and the work showcased in a live connection.

Garden of Third Life Conference

A xenotransplantative skin Live Performance/ Digital interaction The xenotransplantative skin project behaves as a digital skin that interfaces human and non-human entities to change spatial perception, create sensual friction, construct a self-image through detachments from bodily self and a space of negotiation between the self and the other self, oscillating between virtual and physical.

"Lasst uns beenden, was wir begonnen haben." Auf diese Weise stellt die UNO ihr erstes Ziel für nachhaltige Entwicklung vor - das Ende der Armut in allen Formen und Dimensionen bis 2030. Die 17 Ziele der Nachhaltigen Entwicklung und ihre 169 Teilziele wurden als ein ausuferndes, missverständliches Durcheinander großer Absichten beschrieben. Allein der Titel der Entwicklungsagenda - "Unsere Welt umgestalten" - verströmt utopische Ambitionen. Er wurde 2015 von 193 Nationen angenommen. Fünf Jahre später und mit zehn verbleibenden Jahren: Wie wird sich unsere Welt verändern?

We Come From Our Stories I and II

Platfontein is the residence of the !Xun and Khwe people, first-nation inhabits from Southern Africa. FSAH, under the direction of the former Programme Manager MC Roodt, initiated a youth print-project, in partnership with the William Humphreys Arts Gallery and the Isibindi Youth Centre. Fourteen young artists translated traditional narratives into linocut editions during April of 2017. The print portfolio was titled Ons Kom Vanaf Ons Stories (We Come From Our Stories). All proceeds from sales were funnelled back to the Platfontein artists to support their continued growth as voices from the next generation.

Virtual Black Out: Experiments in the Future of Form

Virtual Black Out takes a step into digital “space” making. Engaging African scenographers and digital artists to rethink space, location and time for new digital theatre making. Five pieces developed in lockdown over two weeks.

Sensory Orders

Sensory Orders is an exhibition, online and print project examining the different orders of sense making taking place under our (current) conditions of extreme precarity and uncertainty. Twenty five international artists, scholars and researchers respond to how different orders - the /symbolic/ realm of language and culture, the /technological /realm of machines and the /organic /realm of viruses, plants, animals and the physical-chemical matter of the earth itself - sense on and affect each other.

KT Award of Technology Art, sponsored by MOST, is the most prestigious award for college students in digital arts in Taiwan. There are three competitions: interactive art, digital animation, and digital game. This year’s theme is "Bitter Spring and Fruity Fall (春苦秋實)," which describes all kinds of difficulties we faced, especially the COVID-19 epidemic this spring, but reminds us that we still harvest in autumn. The exhibition of winners’ artworks in the 15th will be held in NTHU.

Thematic Curated Exhibtions I: Leonardo Da Vinci – Art & Science. Then & Now

To commemorate the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death, this exhibition presents original drawings by Leonardo da Vinci from the Pinacoteca and Biblioteca Ambrosiana. The drawings are accompanied by five machines modeled on Leonardo’s designs, and by the works of contemporary artists – most of them faculty at SCM CityU HK – reflecting on Leonardo’s persistent legacy and influence into the digital age.

WADS (↑ ← → ↓) Exhibition in Mozilla Hub
RISE ITICA (CY)

WADS, a digital garden of commoning formed by 21 local artists, sets out to explore the potential of digital hubs as grounds of artistic and technological co-creation. The digital exhibition is created and experienced in the online environment of Mozilla Hubs and will be accessible through the Ars Electronica Digital Platform.

The Traveling Plant Video Tour

In a short video, the Seeds organizations, curators and artists, joined by special guests, present the project, with its different routes and hopes, to the public and the imaginary plant itself, through a tour of an Italian garden, an underwater garden, a hydroponic greenhouse, and more.

The Traveling Plant – Preparatory Log Book

A collective compilation of recommendatons and advice from people who, in the spirit of hosting, are asked to tell the plant what she may expect to discover and experience in her voyage, and what and whom she may encounter. Invited contributors and open contributions worldwide. A selection of the contributions will be published in an online PDF publication.

As part of Heartbeat of the Earth, a series of online interactive artworks interpreting climate data, data artist Laurie Frick’s work examines the impact of individual foods on the environment using hand-drawn data visualisations, color coded and sized by CO2 output.

Coastline Paradox

As part of Heartbeat of the Earth a series of online interactive artworks interpreting climate data, using Google Maps and Street View, artists Pekka Niittyvirta and Timo Aho visualize the predicted sea level rise – and the number of people likely to be displaced – in more than 200 different locations between the years 2000 and 2300.

A Face or a Factory: Holey Surface

A Face or a Factory is a family, a corporation and a laboratory of faces, masks and new identities. By creating new personae based on harvesting DNA material and a 3D scan of each individual seller ― who in turn is offered a seat in the company, along with a specific share of its assets― the project aims to modulate different heteronyms ―their biographies, professions and precise function― in contemporary corporative capitalism.
