In parallel to its online presence in Ars Electronica, Disconnected Experiences will be exhibited offline through !!!Sección ARTE, in the Paquete Semanal, with a reach of 10 million users in Cuba.

This year the Art and Technology Studies (ATS) department of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) presents the work of its community through a series of online and in-person events. The ATS garden seeks to engage in a multidisciplinary dialogue and become a physical and virtual space where the SAIC and the Chicago communities can reflect on our roles in this digital world and rethink ways to engage with these digital systems.

TeleAbsence

The Portuguese term saudade refers to a nostalgic longing for someone or something one cares for. We propose TeleAbsence as a counter concept to Telepresence. If Telepresence connects people who are separated but still reachable, the ultimate goal of TeleAbsence’s is to soothe saudade by providing the illusory experience of communicating and interacting with people who are no longer among us.

Ars Semantica

Six people with different backgrounds from Buenos Aires, Madrid and Linz, share common intuitions and questions as artists, curators and data scientists constituting Ars Semantica Garden. Using Deep Learning tools for semantic analysis of texts, they explore correlations and visualizations of Ars Electronica archive by comparison with Artistic and Techno-Scientific textual corpuses along time.

The Pulse of Earth

Is the Earth alive? This project resorts to the blockchain to explain how our body constitutes a sort of cryptobody, and uses NFTs to approach the micro and the macrocosm, whether to share our DNA or the pulsating of the stars.
