The view of the Earth from space is the only perspective that allows us to observe changes on our planet. To demonstrate the relevance and value of Earth observation in terms of environmental and socio-economic benefits, the journey takes us to current issues around climate change with a virtual presentation. Satellite imagery provides the stunning views of the Earth that document and assess the changes. Based on the technologies developed for the „Φ-Experience“, the Deep Space 8K application „Earth from Space“ provides a stunning and detailed insight into global change.

Biographies

Simonetta Cheli has worked at ESA for over three decades, both at Headquarters in Paris and at ESRIN, and in various roles in the last 15 years within the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes.

Robert Meisner studied geo-sciences at the University of Munich and holds a PhD from the mathematical faculty of the “Free University of Berlin” in geo-scientific data visualization. He worked at Stanford University in California, University College London and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) before joining the European Space Agency in Frascati, Italy. Robert has over 30 years of experience in Earth observation from space and has contributed to several space missions. Currently, he is responsible for ESA Earth observation communication and for the exhibition center “Φ-Experience” in ESA’s establishment in Frascati, Italy.
