The Earth is an interactive ceramic design, which makes reference to the traditional Chinese ceramic type ‚reverse pot,‘ made by Northern Song Dynasty Kuan Ware. The project produces spiritual rituals between audiences and the Earth at the consciousness level. Audiences can pour water into the pot, reverse the pot, sit and meditate nearby, touch the ceramic’s surface to appreciate these cracks, and do any action evoking emotion.
Biography
Yuying Wang is a visual artist, designer and the fifth generation of inheritors of Northern Song Dynasty Kuan Ware based in Zhengzhou, China. She is committed to emphasizing cross-cultural communication modes with sensitive social insights to create cultural heritage for posterity. She hopes to be a bridge to integrate various design forms, in order to show contemporary understanding of traditional culture, and to express the same.
