Building on this year’s Ars Electronica Festival subject, the performer and choreographer Silke Grabinger will approach the concept of utopia and dystopia through a performative installation of the subject. The Sound of Music will serve as the basis for the performative realization, the original step sequences will be brought into focus, subjected to a repetitive movement transformation and transported into the present. — Interpreted through an urban and contemporary approach.
Biography
In her work Silke Grabinger connects urban and contemporary dance with performative and fine arts. Thereby she deals critically with social phenomenona, artistic paradigms and the role of the audience. In 1997 she got in touch with breakdance and achieved success at international contests solo as “b-girl SILK”. She promotes breakdance and hip hop culture with the projects “Elements of Style” and “B-Girl Circle” which she founded in 2004 and 2010 and parallel to SILK Cie. she founded her second dance company SILK Fluegge in order to develop dance and performance pieces for young audience.
With projects like “Underbody” and “Berlioz Project” she started to combine dance, arts and robotics and aims to deepen her work in this field.
