Mark Dippé (US)
Mark Dippé joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1988. He was one of the creators of the Pseudopod in The Abyss and the liquid metal man in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, as well as the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. He has also created computer animation for several major motion pictures. Mark left ILM to direct the feature film Spawn. He is currently finishing production on the animated picture Sharkbait.
Sabine Hirtes (DE)
Sabine Hirtes studied visual communications in Aachen and completed a course in computer graphics. After graduating in 1989, she worked as a 3D/2D artist. In 1993, she became an assistant for digital image design at the Film Academy in Baden-Wurttemberg, and in 1997 she transferred to the ZKM – Center for Art and Media – in Karlsruhe. She joined the Institute of Animation at the Film Academy in Baden-Wurttemberg in 2002.
Ken Perlin (US)
Ken Perlin is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at New York University. He was founding director of the Media Research Laboratory and also directed the NYU Center for Advanced Technology from 1994 to 2004. His research interests include graphics, animation, user interfaces, science education and multimedia.
Ivan Tsupka (UA)
Ivan Tsupka is an artist working in a field of media art. Having a strong classical painting background, he began to work on a computer-generated art and animation at the end of the 90s. He has participated in more than 40 exhibitions and festivals of contemporary art and since 1999 he has been a member of the board of Kiev International and Kiev Media Art Lab.
Boo Wong (US)
Boo Wong is head of the computer-generated imaging department of the New York production house Curious Pictures. Prior to working in digital production, Boo Wong spent eight years immersed in the world of modern dance. She earned a degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Fullerton, CA.

Rupert Huber is a composer and musician, he studied music science, composition and electro-acoustic music in Vienna.
Furukawa Kiyoshi (JP)
Furukawa Kiyoshi studied composition under the tutelage of Yoshiro Irino in Japan, Isang Yun at the Academy of Music in Berlin and Goergy Ligeti at the College of Music in Hamburg. Since 2000 he has been a professor at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He has been actively engaged in musical activities in collaboration with the group “Triangle”, which organizes events for people with hearing difficulties, such as concerts for and with deaf children.
Elisabeth Schimana (AT)
Elisabeth Schimana studied electro-acoustics and experimental music at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and musicology and ethnology at the University of Vienna. She works as a noh singer, performer, composer, radio artist and artistic process manager in an electronic environment. She founded the IMA (Institute for Media Archeology) in 2005
Andrey Smirnov (RU)
Andrey Smirnov is an interdisciplinary artist, composer, performer, instrument builder, programmer, author, curator and educator. He is a founder and director of the Theremin Center for Electroacoustic Music at Moscow State Conservatory and is the author of interactive performances and installations.
Rob Young (UK)
Rob Young is editor-at-large of The Wire magazine and a writer and broadcaster who contributes to The Guardian, Uncut, Frieze, Art Review and Resonance FM. His books include illustrated biographies of the record labels Rough Trade (2006) and Warp (2005) and Undercurrents: The Hidden Wiring Of Modern Music (2002).

Scott deLahunta (NL)
Scott deLahunta is a researcher, writer, consultant and organizer on a wide range of international projects bringing performing arts into conjunction with other disciplines and practices. He is an associate research fellow at Dartington College of Arts, a research fellow at the Amsterdam School for the Arts and visiting artist at the Dance Department / Advanced Computing Center for Art and Design, Ohio State University.
Jens Hauser (DE/FR)
Jens Hauser is a Paris-based art curator, writer, cultural journalist and video maker focusing on the interactions between art and technology and on trans-genre and contextual aesthetics. Hauser is also a director of creative radio pieces, sound environments and documentary films.
Golan Levin (US)
His work focuses on the language of interactivity – verbal, vocal and visual. Levin’s work has been exhibited, among other venues, at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, The Kitchen, the Neuberger Museum and the Whitney Biennial (all in New York), Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria and many others.
Elaine Ng (HK/US)
Elaine Ng is an independent critic and curator based in Hong Kong and New York. From 2001 to 2002 she was the general manager of the Videotage. She is editor of the monograph Dye-a-di-a-logue together with Ellen Pau. She is also a contributing editor for Leonardo Electronic Almanac and co-publisher of Art Asia Pacific.
Sandrine von Klot (AT)
Sandrine von Klot received her master of architecture degree in 1996 in Los Angeles. She is a founding member of the architectural platform Escapesphere. In 2003, von Klot established in private practice as Svkarchitecture. Since 1999, teaching assignments have taken von Klot to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, the Vienna University of Technology, to Los Angeles and to the Linz University of Art.

Söke Dinkla (DE)
Söke Dinkla studied art history, literature, folklore and biology. In 1996, she received her doctorate from the University of Hamburg. Since 2000, she has been curator of the Akzente cultural festival in the Festival Bureau of the City of Duisburg. In February 2007, she was named artistic director of the Ruhr 2010 Capital of Culture bureau in Duisburg.
Erkki Huhtamo (FI)
Erkki Huhtamo works as a professor of media history and theory at the University of California Los Angeles, Department of Design | Media Arts. He has published extensively on media archaeology and media arts, lectured worldwide, created television programs and curated media art exhibitions.
Hiroshi Ishii (US)
Hiroshi Ishii is a tenured associate professor of media arts and sciences at the MIT Media Lab. He joined the MIT Media Laboratory in October 1995 and founded the Tangible Media Group to pursue a new vision of human-computer interaction (HCI): “Tangible Bits”. He received a BE degree in electronic engineering, ME and Ph.D. in computer engineering from Hokkaido University, Japan, in 1978, 1980 and 1992 respectively.
Shu-Min Lin (US)
Born in Taipei, China, Shu-Min Lin now resides, teaches and works both in New York and Shanghai. He is a well-known holography and media artist. At present, he is the President of Shanghai Zendai Himalayas Real Estate Company Ltd. and the CEO of Shanghai Zendai Cultural & Creative Ent. Co., Ltd. The foremost project under his leadership is the Zendai Himalayas Center.
Geetha Narayanan (IN)
Geetha Narayanan is the founder and director of Srishti. She has dedicated her life to finding and establishing new models of educational institutions that are creative, synergistic and original in their approach to learning. She is at present involved in a radical overhaul of Srishti’s design pedagogy, curriculum development, and social responsibility. She is also involved in a program that seeks to develop and train teachers for under-served communities.

Tina Auer (AT)
Tina Auer has worked as a freelance artist since 1994. Until 1996 she was active as a member of the Contained collective and Time’s Up. Her fields of interest range from the functions and behavior of people in artificially established interactive situations taken from everyday life to the general and specific use and abuse of all forms of visual media.
Horst Hörtner (AT)
Horst Hörtner studied telemetric at the Technical University in Graz. He is the co-founder of X-space and has worked for the Seville Expo, Documenta IX, Customer and others. Since 1995 he has been directing the Ars Electronica Futurelab and since 1997 has been associate professor at the Linz University of Art and Industrial Design. Since 2001 he has been an associate member of the Institute of Business Informatics / Software Engineering, Johannes Kepler University, Linz.
Orhan Kipcak (AT)
Orhan Kipcak (AT) has worked in planning bureaus in Germany and Switzerland. He has also been involved in new media consulting and has conducted EU research projects to develop strategies and techniques for digital museum administration, museum didactics and museums presentation.
Gabriele Kotsis (AT)
Gabriele Kotsis received her venia docendi in computer science (2000) from the University of Vienna. She has worked as a researcher and teacher at the University of Vienna (1991-2001), at the Vienna University for Economics and Business Administration (2001) and at the Copenhagen Business School (2002). Since December 2002 she has been a full professor in the Telecooperation Department at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz.
Daniela Pühringer (AT)
Daniela Pühringer works in the communications department of the Linz-based steel company VoestAlpine. Her emphasis is on the organization of events. For example, she has been head of organization of the Voestival, which is a major cultural event in Upper Austria.

Olia Lialina (RU)
One of the organizers of Moscow experimental film club Cine Fantom in the mid-90s, since 1999 Olia Lialina has been a professor at the Merz Akademie (New Media Pathway) Stuttgart. She is a net artist, animated Gif model, and wife of a rock star.
Christiane Paul (US)
Christiane Paul is an adjunct curator of new media arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the director of Intelligent Agent. She has written extensively on new media, net art, information architecture, hypermedia, and hyperfiction. She teaches at the MFA computer arts department at the School of Visual Arts in New York internationally on art and technology.
Claus Pias (DE)
Claus Pias is professor for media philosophy at the University of Vienna. He is currently focusing on the history and theory of digital media, especially on cybernetics and the history of computer simulation. He has recently published ComputerSpielWelten (2002), Cybernetics/Kybernetik: The Macy-Conferences 1946-1953 (2002/04), Zukünfte des Computers (2004) and Hermann Kahn – Szenarien fur den Kalten Krieg (2006).
Felix Stalder (CH)
Felix Stalder is currently dividing his working time between teaching media economics at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Zurich (New Media Department) and working as an independent researcher/ organizer with groups such as the Institute for New Cultural Technologies (tO) in Vienna and the research unit of Openflows in New York.

Sirikit Amann (AT)
Sirikit Amann has studied political science, theater arts, and economics in Vienna, Munich and Boston. Since 1987 she has been working at the ÖKS (Austrian Cultural Service, now Kulturkontakt) where she mainly specializes in applications of new media and ICT. She has participated in selected national and international projects centering on “new media in art/culture with a particular focus on young people”.
Gerlinde Lang (AT)
Gerlinde Lang has been working for FM4, a radio station for youth and culture, since 1998. She is presenter of the magazines “Connected”, “Update” and “ Homebase”, and author of the fashion column “Glamorous”, which although non-normative is astonishingly influential. She is head of the information technology department “Digital Underground”, which also broadcasts “IT news” on FM4 every afternoon.
Christopher Lindinger (AT)
Christopher Lindinger studied computer science at the University of Linz and cultural management in Salzburg. He has worked as researcher in the field of scientific visualization and as a freelance developer for the entertainment industry. He is director of research and innovation in the Ars Electronica Futurelab. He also works as a lecturer at several universities in Austria, Germany, and the UK.

Kathy Rae Huffman (UK)
Kathy Rae Huffman is director of visual arts at Cornerhouse, Manchester’s international media arts center. A curator who specializes in web-based initiatives and new media works, she is a pioneer supporter of artists working in media, theory, and practice. She coordinates the international Web3D Art on-line exhibition, and Faces, a mailing list for women in the media.
Steve Rogers (UK)
Steve Rogers was US design director for Philips, vice-president of product development at Razorfish and head of design and navigation at BCC. In November 2006 Rogers joined British Telecom in his current position as general manager of digital services. He is responsible or bringing consistency, coherence, and interoperability to BT’s wide range of rapidly converging digital services and for driving a suite of products to light up social networks.
