Masaki Fujihata’s project “Brave New Commons” deals with the price and value of digital artwork and its multiple ownership, because “copy” is the foundation for digital artwork. And also the distribution is an alternative way to give artwork eternal life, rather than the conventional way, such as art collection.

Ars Electronica Animation Festival - Young Animations

Every year young, gifted filmmakers from Austria submit their weird, subtle, witty, utopian, critical and dystopian works for the Prix Ars Electronica’s category of u19—create your world. They show us their strong imagination, their deep understanding of certain topics, all expressed through their abilities within one medium. This program is a selection of Animations coming from young creatives and young professionals from different age groups (17-19) and skill sets.

Ars Electronica Futurelab: Life Ink Demo

In the Life Ink exhibition, the Ars Electronica Futurelab presents wearable gear for the real-time visualization of brainwave and body signals as digital brush strokes, called Life Ink. The project explores the inner mechanism of creativity in our brain and body to develop a new form of ink. In the workshop some of the visitors can try out the gear, creating their own Life Ink. Life Ink is part of the lab's Future Ink research project with Wacom, with Festival workshops and demonstrations.

Ars Electronica Futurelab: Bio Ink Experience

In the Bio Ink Experience, visitors draw and write with living ink comprised of various microorganisms. The data from Wacom pens and tablets is digitally extracted while the artworks morph into beautiful patterns in a new ecosystem of creativity. Bio Ink is part of the lab's Future Ink research project: To experience the latest developments, visit the brand-new exhibition on Life Ink in the Ars Electronica Center with prototype demonstrations and a performance during the Festival.

Die ModeratorInnen der drei verschiedenen Prix-Forum-Panels werden gemeinsam über die diesjährige Projektauswahl reflektieren. Besonderes Augenmerk wird darauf gerichtet, welche Schlüsselwörter in den Paneldiskussionen (wieder) auftauchten und welche Rückschlüsse aus den Themen der einzelnen Arbeiten im Bezug auf die allgegenwärtigen Frage "But How?" gezogen werden können.
