The CoderDojo Linz is a free, volunteer-run club for children and young people aged eight to 17 who want to delve deeper into the world of technology. Supported by a team of mentors who are themselves involved in programming, children and young people can program their first computer games or even try their hand at creating a website.

Since the concept of a dojo is focused on learning, no previous experience is required, and the complexity of the project can be adapted to the children’s prior knowledge. For those who are more interested in electronics, the CoderDojo team also offers the possibility to realize small electronic projects with a soldering iron.

Workshop Highlight: Introduction To Rust For Artists – by Lisa Passing
Language: English
Duration: 3h with break
Max. Participants: 10
Registration needed for participation: info@coderdojo-linz.at

Rust is a great programming language for creative coding, building games, implementing interactive sculptures, etc. It has been the most loved programming language in the famous Stack Overflow Survey for many years in a row. This workshop offers an introduction to Rust for artists who want to use it in their digital art. You will learn language fundamentals and discover Nannou (https://nannou.cc/), a framework for creative-coding in Rust. Attendees should already have programming skills in other programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, etc.) as this is not a general introduction in programming but an introduction to the Rust language for people who already have some coding skills.
