Hot to get to KEPLER’S GARDENS and the other venues
Getting to the festival venues by public transport
The FESTIVALPASS entitles you to the free use of public transport within the Kernzone (core zone, except Pöstlingbergbahn to Anton Bruckner Private University). Normally, trams operate reliably at regular intervals at about every 5 minutes and buses at regular intervals at about every 15 – 30 minutes, depending on the bus. The festival mile is located along the central tram axis of Linz.
You can easily get to KEPLER’S GARDENS by tram number 1 or 2 in direction to Universität and go to the end station also called JKU Universität. Just cross the road and there you’ll see: KEPLER’S GARDENS!
You may use all tram lines 1, 2, 3, 4 to operate within the city center, which includes Ars Electronica Center, the OK (Offenes Kulturhaus Oberösterreich), Francisco Carolinum, University of Art and Design Linz, Salzamt, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz, or our cooperative partner Stadtwerkstatt (STWST).
If you’d like to visit Ars Electronica Center or STWST, use any tram line and get off at the station “Rudolfstraße”.
University of Art and Design Linz, Salzamt and Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz are closely located to the station “Hauptplatz”.
Starting at “Taubenmarkt” and you’d like to go to Tabakfabrik, you either take the bus 27 heading to “Fernheizkraftwerk” and get off at the station “Lederergasse”, or you can walk there, which takes about 15-20 min. From “Taubenmarkt” you can also reach Francisco Carolinum within 10 minutes on foot.
The OK and St. Mary’s Cathedral are close to the station “Mozartkreuzung”.
To visit Anton Bruckner Private University, there are two options: Going by Pöstlingbergbahn, which is unfortunately not included in your ARTISTPASS. This ticket costs €4.40. Beginning at “Hauptplatz”, you must go six stations and get off at “Bruckner Universität” – or on foot in 25 minutes.
The app for public transportation in Linz is called „Linz Mobil“ (Android/iOS).
But once you are in the city center, you can easily walk to all of the locations mentioned above – except Anton Bruckner Private University and KEPLER’S GARDENS – within 15 min and experience beautiful Linz.
Getting to the festival venues by car
